The first step is to scan some pictures of a standing Elvis. On that scan i put on lines for the proportions that i can transfer to the photos of my model and adjust it in Photoshop.
For a while i'm thinking about a big painting, 80 x 120 cm, of 3 x Elvis. I don't want to use 3 pictures from books or the net but make photographs of a model in different positions. After that i'll have to find pictures of Elvis clothing from the fifties, sixties and seventies to paint on my models.

I thought it would be fun to make a small painting. While working on this portrait i got the idea for the "Elvis 24" series.
Elvis 24, 1970
15 x 15 cm.
Oil on canvas.
I was reading an article about drawing with charcoal and white chalk on colored paper. Of course I had to try it. This is the result.
Elvis in Charcoal #1, Elvis '68
22 x 30 cm.
Charcoal on blue paper.
The first Elvis drawing in years. When i was young i made nothing but Elvis portraits. Few of them are still hanging on the wall in my mothers house.
20 x 29 cm.
Pencil on Bristol.
